Local PGI Tournament Information - New Brunswick

Tournament Date: August 20 & 21, 2008

PGI NB

Members of the PGI NB 2007 organizing committee and major sponsors present a cheque to the Literacy Coalition of New Brunswick. The amount would later be adjusted to $162,000.

PGI NB events begin in late spring with the I Love New Brunswick Children’s Art & Literacy Contest where children from kindergarten to grade eight are invited to draw or write about “why they love New Brunswick.” Winners of the contest are recognized at the annual Family Festival for Literacy where more than 500 kids take part in fun activities that are combined with learning the value of reading.

“Eveningside – In the Tradition of Peter Gzowski” takes place at the Capitol Theatre the night before the golf tournament where more than 400 people enjoy a night of music, readings, dance and comedy to celebrate literacy.

At Royal Oaks Golf Course, 185 golfers tee it up for literacy to the traditional welcoming sound of bagpipes and the legendary “sign from above” skydiver start. The tournament’s Poet Laureate closes the festivities with a rendition of their work.

PGI NB 2008 events will be held August 20 and 21, in Moncton, NB. The tournament will be played at Royal Oaks Estates and Golf Course. All proceeds to the Literacy Coalition of New Brunswick.
