ABC CANADA Named as Sole Beneficiary of National Post Raise-a-Reader Campaign
Toronto, ON — ABC CANADA Literacy Foundation is delighted to announce that all proceeds from the 2004 National Post Raise-a-Reader campaign will be going to ABC CANADA’s work in support of adult literacy and family reading programs.
The annual National Post Raise-a-Reader Day will take place tomorrow, Thursday, September 30 between 7:00 and 9:00 AM throughout downtown Toronto.
Special guests including Diane Francis and Sandy Rubin from National Post, Cheryl Hickey, Susan Hay and Leslie Roberts of Global Television, three time Canadian Olympic medallist Curt Harnett, WWE’s Carl DeMarco, Ronald McDonald and members of Rugby Canada and Toronto Firefighters, will be positioned at major intersections in downtown Toronto hawking copies of the National Post. 100% of the proceeds from these sales will go to the Raise-a-Reader campaign.

Initiated and operated by Canada’s largest media corporation, CanWest Global Communications, Raise-a-Reader Day will take place Thursday, September 30th in 12 major cities: Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Windsor, Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax. In Montreal, CanWest Raise-a-Reader Day will take place on Thursday, October 7th, 2004.
