Event Coordinator Planning Guide

To assist you in planning and organizing a Family Literacy Day event or activity, we have developed a free, online Event Coordinator Planning Guide. The guide includes:

• Event ideas for large and small groups
• A step-by-step guide to planning your event
• Media-relations tips
• Much more!

We have also included a collection of games and activities that you may find helpful when planning your Family Literacy Day event.

Faze Magazine Gift Subscriptions

In keeping with a commitment to support literacy, Faze will again offer gift subscriptions for Family Literacy Day events. A limited number of subscriptions are available to literacy groups, schools and public libraries holding Family Literacy Day events or competitions. Subscriptions will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis (limit: 4 subscriptions per group). The gift subscriptions are for one year (5 issues, $18 retail value).

Event coordinators can download and print the special Family Literacy Day Congratulations Certificate (221KB, PDF):

• Open the file “fazegift2008.pdf” using Adobe Acrobat.
• Print out on regular letter-size quality paper/card stock (a colour printer is highly recommended)
• Please sign the certificate yourself in the space for the “FLD Coordinator.”
• After receiving the certificate, the winner then fills out their subscription address information and mails the form to Faze.
• Faze will start the subscription as soon as the form is received.
• All gift subscriptions must be mailed (postmarked) no later than April 30, 2008 to qualify.

Tribute Magazine Offer

Tribute is offering copies of Teen Tribute for distribution as prizes or giveaways at Family Literacy Day events. These free magazines are available to participating literacy groups, schools and libraries, and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Event coordinators who are interested in obtaining magazines should contact April Towell at atowell@tribute.ca. Please provide your contact information, address, and the date materials are required.
