ABC CANADA has an impressive roster of corporate supporters who champion the issue of literacy in Canada. We receive generous financial contributions, corporate sponsorships, donated media space, creative services and in-kind donations that allow us to reach Canadians everywhere with our literacy programs and promotional campaigns.

A close relationship between ABC CANADA and the corporate sector is essential in raising public awareness of literacy and in positioning literacy as a critical issue for the Canadian business sector. The fact that four out of 10 Canadian adults struggle to some degree with low literacy can seriously jeopardize Canadians’ ability to meet the demands of a rapidly-changing and technologically advancing workplace, and to reach their full potential at home and in society.

A philanthropic corporate donation is a simple and efficient way to support ABC CANADA. By associating your company with us, you are:

With a long and successful history of developing creative corporate partnerships, ABC CANADA can help your company achieve the following business objectives:

Raise your profile in the community. Support for ABC CANADA delivers promotional value. It gets your name, products and services into the community. Our initiatives attract wide and diverse audiences, and our local and national media contacts are extensive. We partner with literacy organizations and coalitions in every province and territory.

Enhance your corporate image. Consumers have a more positive image of companies associated with charitable causes. Support for ABC CANADA directly links your company with our mission, our record of success and our partners and stakeholders across the country.

Foster employee goodwill, involvement and teamwork. Employees take pride in working for a socially responsible company, and are more motivated to work for a company that gives back to its community. A partnership with ABC CANADA may also offer ways for employees to get involved with several program initiatives. Gutenberg Media Grab

The Gutenberg Media Grab is an innovative “virtual” fundraiser for ABC CANADA. Media across the country donate nearly one million dollars worth of advertising space to the event. Then, for one week in April, all of the online donated advertising space is made available for purchase at 65% off the rate-card value. In other words, buyers pay only 35% of the value of the advertisement. All of the advertising revenue is then donated directly to ABC CANADA.

Unlike an auction where buyers have to bid against each other, the Gutenberg Media Grab is a way for buyers to buy (or “grab”) deeply discounted advertising space on a first-come, first-served basis, over a one-week period in April.

Anyone from any sector can be a buyer. Advertising agencies, independent business people, arts administrators, Canadian corporations, non-profit organizations – anyone who buys advertising for themselves, their company, their organization, their clients, etc. can buy. Gifts-In-Kind

You may also donate your company’s products or services to support the work of ABC CANADA, such as:

  • A portion of your company’s advertising space or airtime so that ABC CANADA can air our professionally produced Public Service Announcements on literacy issues.
  • A portion of your company’s advertising space or airtime to benefit our innovative “virtual” fundraiser, the Gutenberg Media Grab
  • Products that ABC CANADA can distribute at our various events
  • Printing or production services for ABC CANADA’s promotional materials
